ConnectSmart is celebrating its first year of making Houston more connected and less congested.

On October 24th, ConnectSmart was a proud partner of Transportation Advocacy Group (TAG) at their annual State of TxDOT event at the JW Marriott Galleria. Over 300 transportation industry professionals attended who were on hand to hear Texas Transportation Commissioner Steven Alvis and TxDOT Houston District Engineer Eliza Paul discuss current transportation concerns within our community, such as traffic congestion, infrastructure construction and maintenance, hurricane and flood resilience, and safety.

“It was great to hear both speakers reinforce the importance of improving transportation and the impact TxDOT has on both Houston’s quality of life and economic growth”, said Brenda Bustillos, TxDOT Engineer and ConnectSmart Project Manager. “We are proud that the technology behind ConnectSmart is having a positive impact on maximizing our investment in transportation infrastructure and minimizing the impacts of future construction. And, thanks to users, ConnectSmart is making Houston less congested and more connected, every day.”

At our interactive exhibit area, we showcased our video “Houston ConnectSmart: An Innovative Solution to Greater Houston Traffic” and invited attendees to try out ConnectSmart’s trip planning and carpool features with a friend or co-worker.

TxDOT Executive Director Marc Williams also stopped by to congratulate ConnectSmart on a successful first year. “This has been a fantastic success, not only for the Texas Department of Transportation, but for the Greater Houston region. We’re up to 20,000 users; 30,000 online transit tickets purchased; and over 130,000 safety alerts.” Thank you, Mr. Williams, for your support and kind words.
